To insure a great experience in the kitchen, remember these simple rules for kids.
Never cook alone.
Always ask permission from Mom, Dad or the adult in charge.
Ask for help when you need it.
Dress right for cooking. (No long sleeves or loose fitting clothing to get tangled in the mixer or to catch on fire at the stove.)
Wash hands before starting and again frequently during all food preparation.
Measure and prepare (chop, mince, slice, dice, etc.) all ingredients before starting to mix.
Clean as you go. Keep utensils and work areas free of clutter and rinse when you finish using a tool or equipment.
Never put knives or other sharp things in the sink.
Always wash cutting boards with soap and water.
Have an adult close by at all times when you cook.
Never, ever, leave food unattended while it is cooking.
Use potholders and mitts to handle hot pans.
Always ask an adult to help with heavy, hot pans and food.
